Green mixed-use development underway in Fort Worth

PS1200, a mixed-use development in Fort Worth, features Quonset-hut apartments, retail shops, offices, and a vegan bistro by Spiral Diner founders, all within an eco-friendly, public park setting. Developed by Prince Concepts and designed by Marlon Blackwell Architects, it emphasizes sustainability and innovative design.

Green home design can offset effects of SAD

Seasonal affective disorder, aka SAD, is a type of depression, with up to 3 million cases reported each year. A reduced level of sunlight in fall and winter is suspected to cause winter-onset SAD, according to the Mayo Clinic.

And it’s not just something that affects people in rain-soaked regions like the Pacific Northwest: SAD impacts humans of all ages, all backgrounds, and all around the globe. 

New Allen STEAM center promotes environmental ed

Allen ISD's new STEAM Center, designed by VLK Architects, integrates arts into STEM education with indoor-outdoor learning spaces, sustainable design, and innovative facilities, promoting environmental education. It addresses a national STEM skills gap and offers diverse classes and real-world experiences, including ecological zones and a living laboratory pond.

With a sweeping metal exterior, solar panels and rooftop gardens, Arlington’s new George W. Hawkes Downtown Library is poised to write a bold chapter in eco-friendly urban planning in North Texas.

Grand Opening for the 70,000 square-foot, three-story innovation is June 16, followed by days of get-acquainted community events called Discover Your Story.

A Dallas woman has created a social media site for sustainability fans.

The website AmbientGreenery.com aims to encourage sustainability worldwide by offering a digital forum where anyone can post a photo of a cool sustainable find. 

Dallas tree service company digging new green headquarters

Arborilogical Services' new Wylie headquarters is a model of green design, featuring solar panels, rainwater collection, and geothermal systems. Constructed with recycled materials, it saves energy and costs, while enhancing aesthetics with eco-friendly landscaping. Owner Steve Houser emphasizes sustainability and innovative design.

Keep Dallas Beautiful to create healing garden at VA med center

Keep Dallas Beautiful revived in 2017 aims to beautify Dallas with projects like installing a Healing Garden at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center. Led by Brenda Finch, the group focuses on beautification, litter reduction, and environmental education, with support from the city and volunteers.
