Native Prairies Assocation of Texas, Fort Worth Chapter: Prairie Mgmt on Corps Land in North Texas - Fort Worth

Martin Underwood, USACE Biologist, presents Prairie Management on U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Land in North Texas. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is probably the largest public land owner in the DFW Metroplex. There are a variety of management issues, such as managing lands for native vegetation, including remnant and restorable prairies. This presentation is an overview of the project lands, pertinent policies, history/status of tallgrass prairie in North Texas and management practices USACE uses with limited staffing, budget and policies to protect and improve our valued resources.
