Wes Culwell will discuss one of his pet projects – identifying and obtaining recognition for local historic trees in the Tarrant area. In addition, he will provide us with some of his observations about the trees that can be found at the Southwest Nature Preserve.
Wes Culwell is one of the few Board-Certified Master Arborists in Texas. He is an Aggie, a Landscape Horticulturist and owner of HortiCare involved in improving plant health care.
He is very involved in historic trees and has Fort Worth Heritage Tree and Famous Trees of Texas designations. He has one state champion tree and four Regional Champion designations. Wes is Chairman-elect of the Tarrant County Historical Commission and serves on the Board of Directors for the Friends of the Fort Worth Nature Center & Refuge. He is an author of several books and is an artist. Wes recently initiated a program for recognition of Tarrant County's historical natural resources.
