Master Birders Thomas Haase and Carla Savage will present a program on birding the Southwest Nature Preserve. The program will include the basics of birding as well as information on what birds to look for at SWNP, when, where and how to find them there.
Thomas Haase attended college in Minnesota and trained as a teacher and is currently in his 38th year in education. Spent 13 1/2 years overseas mostly in Germany & Italy. Birding found him nearly 20 years ago in Minnesota. Started as a backyard birder by accident. Took a local Community Education class on Backyard birding and his interest took off from there. Active in the Fort Worth Audubon Society currently serving as the Texas Audubon Rep and previously served as Programs VP. Loves birds and connecting with nature with like-minded people.
Carla Savage’s lifelong passion for bird watching and nature was instilled in her at an early age through contact with the plants and wildlife in her parents’ small ever-changing garden and being bundled up to watch meteor showers in a cold, winter sky. Her interest in nature continues today through various educational programs and associations she has had the opportunity to participate in such as Texas Master Birders and Texas Master Naturalists, the Audubon Society, Native Plant Society and Native Prairie Association.
