Kristie West was driving down the highway in rural South Texas when she saw it.

The drive from her ranch to the nearby town of Poth was usually uneventful. But on that day in 2017, West saw something that made her slam on the brakes of her pickup.

Electric buses to link up popular Fort Worth stops

Fort Worth is introducing four zero-emissions battery-electric buses, starting Sept. 22, connecting downtown, the Cultural District, and entertainment areas. This public/private initiative aims to reduce noise and emissions, with funding assistance from community partners and a charging station to support the 150-mile range vehicles.

Local candidates rated ‘green’ by DFW groups

Candidates in Dallas’ and Fort Worth’s municipal elections go before voters this Election Day, Saturday - some with endorsements from  two prominent environmental groups. 

Nineteen aspirants for mayor and city council in Dallas, along with council and county water board in Fort Worth, got green thumbs-ups.

Paddlers, runners to pick up trash at Dallas parks

Groundwork Dallas and Trinity Park Conservancy host a canoe clean-up on the Elm Fork of the Trinity River on June 9. The Environmental League of Dallas holds the Trash Dash 5K on May 11 at Harry Moss Park, where runners either exercise or drop litter at stations along the route.

Skies clear for fifth annual Run for Environment

The fifth annual Green Source DFW Run for the Environment took place on April 15, 2019, with Alberto Trevino winning first place and Karen Benitez as the fastest female. The event, benefiting Green Source DFW, was part of Oak Cliff Earth Day and featured sunny weather at Lake Cliff Park.
