Native and adaptive plants are not only beautiful water efficient additions to your landscape, but they can be useful tools to attract beneficial wildlife as well. Learn ways to attract and provide urban habitat for butterflies, song birds, hummingbirds, bees and other animals that bring your landscape to life with activity. Free. RSVP.
The Fort Worth Nature Center and Refuge is a hidden jewel, a wilderness comprised of forests, prairies and wetlands reminiscent of how much of the Metroplex once looked.
Under the guidance of NANPA member David Morgan, this outing will explore the Indigo Buntings, Painted Buntings, Prothonotary Warblers and FWNC's rich bird life, as well as prairie dogs (hopefully with pups), buffalo and more. Meet at the Front Gate at 7:30 a.m. Gate opens at 8 a.m.
Arthropods Among Us: Join us as we hike to explore the incredible diversity of sometimes unseen and forgotten arthropods. We’ll take a close look at the unique, unusual and most often beneficial insects that we have around us. Be prepared for some close-up explorations. Free with paid admission $2-$5.

Conserving water outdoors can significantly lower our water bills and preserve this precious natural resource. It's time to learn some water saving gardening techniques such as the use of native plants, mulching beds, smaller turf areas and efficient irrigation techniques.

Wildlife photographer Chris Jackson, the founder of DFWUrbanWildlife.org, will speak at the AHNA meeting. Jackson is a software engineer by trade and an author, naturalist and photographer by passion. For more than 10 years, Jackson has collected photographs, anecdotes and other information about the wide variety of wildlife in North Texas, the fourth largest metropolitan area in the nation. Public welcome.
