Waterfowl Watch - Ft Worth

Winter is a wonderful time to visit your local rivers and lakes to see our winter waterfowl. Bring your binoculars and spotting scopes and join us as we hike along the West Fork of the Trinity River in search of wintering ducks and other birds that have come into our area. $5(with paid admission)/MEMBERS FREE.

Winter Constellations - Ft Worth

Winter is a great time for stargazing. The skies are clearer and you do not have to stay up too late to see
the stars. For those that are not familiar with some of the constellations that are above you, stop by and learn some of the common constellations we have in our night sky. Programs are :30 and begin on the hour and half hour. FREE (with paid admission).

Tree-cycle - Ft Worth

The Nature Center is fortunate to be surrounded with many trees. In the spring and summer, we can take in the beauty of the dark greens. In the fall, we can enjoy the reds, oranges and yellows leaves. In winter, the silhouettes of branches is great for exposing birds. Join us as we discuss the importance of trees in the ecosystem throughout their life cycle. $5 (with paid admission)/ MEMBERS FREE. Archaeology of Texas - Ft Worth

The Nature Center has a great cultural history. Join the Tarrant County Archeology Society as they
present a program on Texas archeology and a summation of what was discovered when the society excavated at the Nature Center 20 years ago. FREE (with paid admission).

Make A Bird Feeder - Ft Worth

Winter can be a little more difficult for birds to find food. Let us help them out a little bit and make some bird
feeders. When you stop by the Visitors’ Center, join us in making a feeder to take home. Supplement a bird’s diet and attract more birds to your backyard.  FREE (with paid admission).

The Way Things Were - Ft Worth

The Nature Center is a very large place and takes lots of dedication and hard work to maintain it. In addition to the space, we are affected by invasive and non-native plants outcompeting our native plants. Learn about the various invasive and non-native plants that have adversely affected the native flora and fauna and how we are trying to restore the ecological balance. $5 (with paid admission).

Bottomlands Hike - Ft Worth

The Bottomlands along the river and creeks of the Nature Center are a great place to see many different species of wildlife. Join us as we hike around the Wild Plum Trail and Forked Tail Creek Trail to take in this habitat and see the wildlife that are stirring. $5 (with paid admission)/MEMBERS FREE.

Bison Feeding Hayrides - Ft Worth

November 22 & 23:

10 - 11:30 a.m.
1 - 2:30 p.m.


Enjoy an old-fashioned hayride to the bison range where you will get to see the bison up close as you assist staff with feeding the bison range cubes. We will also share our bison management practices and see the equipment necessary to care for these large animals. During the hayride, we will discuss the habitats represented at the Nature Center. Pre-registration required. $16 (includes admission)/ MEMBERS $8.

Gobble Gobble - Ft Worth

The North American Turkey has been viewed by many people as an important bird. It was  even thought worthy enough to be our national bird. Join us as we discuss the natural history of the Wild Turkey. FREE (with paid admission).

Crafty Kids - Ft Worth

It’s that time of year again when the trees start to lose their leaves.  Bring the kids out to the Nature Center to collect leaves and make a fall nature craft to take home. FREE (with paid admission).
