Fort Worth Audubon Society: Annual Membership Bird and Wildlife Photo Presentation - Fort Worth

Escape to the “wild” side- spend an evening with the FWAS viewing some great wildlife and bird photography submitted by our globe-trotting membership. The annual membership “slide show” features pictures and videos of great birds, wildlife, landscapes and adventures from the past year whether it is from our back yard or far away.

Mountain View College: BioBlitz - Dallas

Starting in the Treetop Lounge at 11 a.m. Sam Kieschnick, an Urban Wildlife Biologist with Texas Parks and Wildlife, will fascinate participants with information about the urban habitat at MVC. He'll show attendees how to use iNaturalist, a free app for identitying plants and animals, so that they can be citizen scientists any time! Then we head out to the urban forest where the adventure continues and participants start recording and sharing their observations in iNaturalist to create data for scientists all over the world.

Join STEAMgrown Gardens, UNT Sustainability, City of Denton Sustainability and local growers for a special evening during EarthFest at the University of North Texas. Presenting SEED: The Untold Story and a panel discussion to follow with perspectives from local farmers and native seed savers.

Native Plant Society of Texas, Trinity Forks Chapter: Plant This, Not That - Denton

Presentation by Lynda Harvey, a Denton County Master Gardener and member of the Trinity Forks NPSOT chapter. “Plant This, Not That” analyzes multiple factors to create a sustainable garden in North Texas. The objective is to design a residential landscape that is appealing, suitable, economic and responsible, where plants can serve a functional purpose in additional to their aesthetic benefits.

Native Prairies Association of Texas, Fort Worth Chapter: USFWS Involvement with the Conservation of Grasslands via Pollinators - Fort Worth

Don Wilhelm, USFWS Coordinator for Partners for Fish & Wildlife Program, will talk about federal partnership programs to increase conservation of grasslands via the enhancement of pollinator habitat.

Dallas Sierra Club: Arctic National Wildlife Refuge - Farmers Branch

See what the scenery and wildlife of the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge are like, and what we will lose if it is opened to oil drilling. Free. Everybody is welcome.

Bob Jones Nature Center: Spring Pollinators - Southlake

Thanks to the wonderful work of pollinators, much of the food we eat and flowers and plants we enjoy are possible. Learn about how you can make a positive difference in your home environment with Master Gardener Sher Dunaway. Sher’s lecture will focus on how you can provide a diverse assortment of flowering plants and encourage native species in your landscape. Weather permitting, we will take a walk through the Bob Jones Nature Center Pollinator Garden to illustrate how to bring color and friendly wildlife to your yard.

Bob Jones Nature Center: Texas Mammals - Southlake

Presenter Jan Hodson’s lifelong work in the wildlife field includes work as a Park Interpreter for Ray Roberts State Park, beekeeping experience with the Denton County Beekeepers Association, and more than 6,000 hours of service to the Elm Fork Chapter of the Texas Master Naturalists. Her interactive lecture on Texas mammals will utilize animal skins and plaster track casts to help us learn how to recognize some of the local wildlife by the signs they leave behind.
