Cardboard Boat Regatta - Arlington

Cheer on cardboard boat vessels or enjoy family friendly activities including the Tornado ride, Hook’s Lagoon, Mini-Boat Regatta, Build-on-Site Boats, Whale Sail and concessions. Boat entry deadline is April 15. Boat entry fees are $50 to $80. Event-day admission is $8. Pre-purchase tickets at River Legacy Living Science Center for $6 by April 26. 

Water-Wise Gardening Expo - Lewisville

Learn how to conserve water and protect the environment. Tour Upper Trinity’s Water-Wise Demonstration Garden, visit educational booths and get to know your sprinkler system. The garden and booths will be open 9 a.m. to noon. A “Get to Know Your Sprinkler System” class will be offered 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Registration for the class is required. Drug Dropoff - Arlington

Throwing unused or expired medications with regular trash or flushing them down the toilet creates additional hazards. To offer a safe alternative, the Drug Enforcement Administration partners with the city of Arlington to host medication drop off days twice a year. See website for locations.

Water: Ripple Effects - Dallas

SMU hosts Engineering and Humanity Week April 6-12. This year's theme is Water: Ripple Effects. The focus will be on the positive ripple effects people can inspire when confronted with current challenges. Opportunities to meet British adventurer and ecologist David de Rothschild and tour the PLASTIKI and hear hip-hop artist Emmanuel Jal, a humanitarian advocate for social justice and human rights.
