Urban Sustainability

Conference focuses on the policies and regulations affecting farms and food.

 • Hear top speakers on a variety of issues including genetically engineered foods, the politics of organics, the 2013 Farm Bill, FDA’s food safety regulations, urban farming, raw milk, water planning & policy, and more!

• Participate in hands-on activism workshops, for both beginners and experienced activists

• Network with individuals, nonprofits, and businesses who care about our local farms and food

• Enjoy lunch (Monday) and a special banquet (Sunday evening) of local foods prepared by nationally acclaimed chef Jesse Griffiths of Dai Due.

Ongoing class designed to encourage families to explore nature together. Each month features a new nature topic and is designed for elementary-age children and younger. This Month’s Topic: Amazing Seeds. Consider packing water and/or small snacks to enjoy with your family after the program. Cleanup the Campion Trails along the Elm Fork of the Trinity River. Event followed by food, fun, music and prizes.

Peter Payton, executive director of Groundwork Dallas, will discuss the development of the eco-classroom on the Elm Fork of the Trinity River, the revitalization of the Trinity River and the development of the Trinity Greenbelt as a regional education and recreation epicenter. Free.

Women in the Environment hosts this event, featuring artwork for sale made from upcycled and recycled materials by local artists. Wine, appetizers & silent auction. $10-$25.

Learn when to plant, proper soil preparation, insect and disease and weed control. Free.
