Denton County Master Gardeners: Plant Sale - Denton

In addition to a wide variety of shrubs, ground covers, perennials, annuals, rose herbs and bedding plants, the sale will include Texas natives and pass-along plants from the gardens of Master Gardeners. 

Steve Huddleston, one of the authors of Easy Gardens for North Central Texas, will be on hand on share and sign his book. Stan Poole, local Adirondack furniture builder, will offer handmade chairs and benches for sale.

Attendees are invited to bring their own carts and wagons for their shopping convenience. Proceeds from the plant sale help fund horticultural programs throughout the county.

Denton County Master Gardeners: Spring Garden Tour - Denton

“In-Town Gardens” is the theme of the 2015 Denton County Master Gardener Association Spring Garden Tour.

Five beautiful private gardens inside the Denton city limits are included on this year’s tour, which raises funds for horticultural education programs. Veteran Master Gardeners will be on hand to answer questions and point out interesting characteristics of each landscape.

Garden Tour tickets are $10 per person and are available from Master Gardeners, local nurseries and online at www.dcmga.com. Children under 12 are admitted free. Admission to a single garden is $5 at the gate.

City of Dallas: BOPA Mobile Collection - Dallas

The BOPA mobile will accept ONLY the following items: BATTERIES, OIL/OIL FILTERS, LATEX PAINT and  ANTIFREEZE

Containers larger than 5 gallons will NOT be accepted.
No more than 50 pounds of batteries can be dropped off per day.
No more than 25 gallons of latex paint, oil or antifreeze can be dropped off per day.

Arlington Conservation Council: 'Talking Trash, Wasted Resources, Missed Opportunities and Hope for the Future' - Arlington

Presented by Debbie Branch, Resource Recovery Planner with the city of Fort Worth Solid Waste Services Division.

Join this presentation to consider some low hanging fruit in resource recovery trends in the state of Texas and the country and find out how individuals can make a difference. 

Debbie Branch is part of the Fort Worth Sustainability Team working to forward sustainability initiatives in Fort Worth. She has 11 years in the resource recovery industry and received the 2013 Green Source DFW Sustainability Leadership Award for a non-profit professional. Debbie has written successful grant applications totaling more than $430,000 to increase recycling, including electronics, in Fort Worth and the DFW area and is currently the chair of the Texas Product Stewardship Council.

City of Mansfield: Trashoff - Mansfield

We need volunteers to come out and help us cleanup our community at newly purchased city property!

Litter is a big problem. Not only is it an unsightly mess, but it actually harms plants and wildlife!

Trash bags, drinks, gloves, safety vests and giveaways will be provided. Officers will be on location to maintain a safe environment.

There will be something for people of all ages to help with. Participants under 15 years of age will need to be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Pants, long sleeve shirts, and CLOSED TOED shoes are strongly recommended!

Hot dog cookout after the cleanup at the site.
