One day a year, Friends of Tandy Hills Natural Area with help from the city of Fort Worth Parks and Community Services Department hosts a Brush Bash to clear sections of the prairie of invasive and unwanted trees, brush and trash. The brush has been cut and will be ready for volunteers to drag to waiting trucks for delivery to a composting facility. 

Bring gloves, sturdy shoes, hat, water, lunch, tarps and small wagons. Coffee, tea & morning snacks provided. RSVP: Don Young, donyoungglass@earthlink.net

Join the Dallas Sierra Club for a service project. Then walk the beautiful trails just south of Dallas. Info: Ginger Bradley, 469-223-7902.

Walk and talk while picking up trash and recyclables at the Sierra Club's adopted section of White Rock Lake Park. Area is a prairie restoration area, so there are always birds and wildflowers. Each Sunday in February and March, volunteers are invited to help restore this native prairie.  Come help make seed balls, remove invasive plant species, plant native grasses and more.

Dallas County Community College District hosts this environmentally-themed event at North Lake College, featuring break-out sessions and a green expo. Permaculture expert Toby Hemenway provides this year's keynote address. Lunch provided. Screening of the documentary Arise at 1pm. Free.

"Speciesism: The Movie" takes viewers on a sometimes funny, sometimes frightening adventure across the country, to expose the biggest secrets about modern "factory farms" and to ask the biggest questions about the belief that our species is more important than the rest. You’ll never look at animals the same way again. Especially humans.

Director Mark Devries will be on hand at the Texas premiere for a Q&A afterwards.
