Geocaching 101 (6 yrs & up) - Plano

Geocaching is a high-tech treasure-hunting game played throughout the world by adventure seekers equipped with a global positioning system device (GPS). Rapidly gaining in popularity, Geocaching is an entertaining and educational outdoor activity. Whether for family fun, exercise, or the thrill of the hunt, there is a global game board just outside your door with treasures waiting to be discovered. Learn the basics of GPS usage and how to use one to go Geocaching in this informative session. Everyone 16 years old or younger must be accompanied by a registered adult. $6/person.

Kayak Camp (11-15 yrs) - Plano

Learn beginning kayaking skills at the lake located at City of Plano's Oak Point Park. Later during the week, campers will have the opportunity to learn Kayak Polo. This class will be under the direction of American Canoe Association (ACA) certified instructor, Dave Holl, who will teach campers the ACA Quick Step program. Boats, paddles, and life jackets will be provided. Parents will be required to sign liability waivers on the first morning of camp. In the event of inclement weather, class may be moved to an indoor facility or postponed until weather improves. This camp has a 3-week cancellation policy. $150. Monday-Friday, June 13-17, 8am-noon.

Fishing Camp (10-15 yrs) - Plano

Kids ages 10-15 will learn basic fishing techniques at this week-long camp. Instructor will teach how to tie a hook, handle fish, and remove a fish from the hood. Students will also learn the proper way to cast a bait caster reel and will discover what types of baits to use in different situations. The camp will spend time reviewing fishing safety standards. Campers will venture to area lakes to develop basic fishing skills. Students will need to bring their own fishing gear, bait, a sack lunch, and drink every day. $65. Tuesday-Friday, July 5-8, 7:30am-12:30pm.

Summer Camp Wilderness Expedition (12-17 yrs) - Plano

Join us as we hike, camp and backpack along the Little Missouri River through Ouachita National Forest in Arkansas. The three days will be packed with adventure from hiking along the trail, crossing numerous rivers, and climbing high rock bluffs. Basic survival skills and fire-making will be taught. All camping gear, transportation, and meals are included. Trip will be conducted by Frisco Wilderness Adventures & Outfitters. $170. Mandatory trip meeting at 6pm, Monday, August 8 at Liberty Recreation Center, 2601 Glencliff Dr, Plano, 75075.

Family Nature Walk - Allen

This themed walk will be guided by a knowledgeable expert in a specific area. The walk is planned to take about two hours.

All ages are welcome.

Last Fall we did something similar with the subjects of Bugs, Owls, Feathered Friends and What's Sleeping in the Meadow. Stay tuned for more information on this Spring's specific subject matter.
