Bird Walk at the Meadow - Allen

Bring your binoculars and field guides if you have them, and learn what to watch for in habits, characteristics and calls from Gailon and Rodney, both with Prairie and Timbers Audubon Society. You can expect about 30+ species. The walk is planned to take about three hours. All ages are welcome. We recommend wearing long pants, closed-toed shoes, sunscreen, and insect repellent.

Habitat Walk - Allen

Join Texas Master Naturalist and Environmental Scientist, Rich Jaynes, to explore and understand the management plans for the four habitat areas of the Connemara Meadow Preserve - a riparian zone along Rowlett Creek that is important as a wildlife corridor; the floodplain grasslands and wetlands in the lower meadow, the hedgerows along perimeter and interior fence lines established during agricultural use, and upland grasslands are located in the upper meadow which has a terrace system from earlier agricultural use. The walk is planned to take about two hours. All ages are welcome.

River Legacy Clay Shoot Fundraiser - Dallas

Highlights include catered lunch, 100 rounds of sporting clays, shells, awards ceremony, auction and raffle. Check in and lunch begins at noon at Elm Fork Shooting Sports in Dallas. Vegan Lecture & Cooking Demo - Southlake

Dr. Neal Barnard, vegan advocate and President of Physician/s Committee for Responsible Medicine (PCRM) speaks at 7 pm, Southlake Library, 1400 Main St, Southlake, 76092. Katherine Lawrence, local vegan nutrition and cooking instructor, will have a cooking demonstration; samples provided of one recipe. Free.

Feng Shui Class - Plano

This basic skills training course is designed to offer the student a solid foundation and introduction to the basic concepts of Feng Shui. Students will be provided key knowledge educating them in concepts such as: History of Feng Shui, Yin and Yang, The Five Different Elements/Eight Trigrams and the Luo Shu among other essential fundamentals. The participant will also receive a general overview of the criteria surrounding Pa Chai (Eight Mansions) and Xuan Kong (Flying Stars) and how to apply these concepts. This is a one day intensive workshop designed to provide the recipient with the core data and is a pre-requisite of level two of this series.
