UU Church of Oak Cliff: Environmental folk singer Andrew McKnight - Dallas

Andrew McKnight left his corporate environmental engineering career in 1996 and became an award-winning folk and Americana artist. McKnight has long advocated for preservation of American landscapes and heritage and often shares his talents to help with such programs as those for mental health and elderly care and from a California at-rich youth program to a Seattle food bank and a Massachusetts community radio station.

Opening for McKnight is Emmeline, a pint-sized singer/songwriter from Dallas who revels in big words, unconventional cords, and persistent melodies.

Sustainable Future at Mt View College: Artist Ken O'Toole - Dallas

Artist Ken O’Toole's appearance is part of Mountain View College's Sustainability Speaker Series. O'Toole is an experimental artist working in various media. His works include “Cultural Ghosts,” a monograph of photos exploring the unintended beauty of refuse on our nations highways and “Quintina,” which is constructed of hundreds of pieces of recycled cardboard, reclaimed from discarded pizza boxes, soda pop cartons, and frozen TV dinner boxes.

Arlington Conservation Council: Product Recycling, Take-Back Efforts & More - Arlington

Kim Mote, assistant director of code compliance for the city of Fort Worth and a past president of the Texas Product Stewardship Council, will give an overview of product recycling and take-back efforts in the state and a peek at the environmental quality chapter of the city's soon-to-be-unveiled 2014 Comprehensive Plan.
