Weekly “Strategy Session” Gas Drilling Meetings - Every Tuesday

[ibimage==2773==original_size==none==self==null]

The local Texas Campaign for the Environment office is hosting follow up meetings about the gas drilling issue  in Dallas. TCE is also launching a statewide campaign to urge Wal-mart to start a take back recycling program for old and obsolete electronics and this will be a forum to discuss this program. Electronic waste is toxic waste (it contains lead, mercury and many hazardous chemicals) that doesn’t belong in D/FW landfills – which are often situated close to area waterways. TCE is thus urging Walmart to match the recycling program Best Buy is offering in their retail stores nationwide, and we launched a “social media action”.

As part of that action TCE is urging everyone to:

Post a message today on Walmart’s “What’s on Your Mind” Facebook page calling on the company to take back e-waste for recycling. This link will take you to Walmart's customer feedback page. http://www.facebook.com/walmart/app_262083887168302

First Clean Air Meetup of the Year - Dallas

Hold On to Your Hats Eco Amigos....

The year is going to start off with a bang.....including a new environmental hazard which is imminently threatening our backyard (you have to come to find out about it).

Catch the scoop of what it is and how fast it is coming by joining me at Picasso's off Forest and Inwood (across from Jesuit's soccer fields) in Dallas this Thursday night at 6:30.

Smitty and I will be hot off an DMNews ed board meeting to expose this new threat to DFW's water and air quality....and we need your help.

When you get there, we'll also let you know what is going on with the Keystone Pipeline (it's still not over despite the President's decision), gas drilling, the Exide plant, and more.

Thanks and PLEASE forward to friends/places that can announce this meeting.

Energy Generation & Storage Conference - Richardson

Energy plays a major role in the US and global economies. Seven of the top ten companies in Fortune’s Global 500 are directly involved with energy. Energy is critical to each of us in our daily lives, and energy expenditures account for about 8% of GDP worldwide.

Although the energy industry broadly includes petroleum and natural gas ex- ploration and production, this Research and New Venture Showcase will be fo- cused on ground-breaking research and new developments in the generation and storage of electrical energy. A subsequent program, planned for Spring 2012, will focus on electrical energy transmission, utilization and efficiency.

On October 21, 2011, UT Dallas researchers and industry participants will address developments impacting solar power, wind energy, storage integration and the design of advanced electronics used in the management and control of electricity.

$95/person.
