The Dallas Sierra Club hosts this two-part class covering the fundamentals of finding your way in the wilderness. Topics include map reading, using GPS and compasses and what to do if you get lost. Part 2 is March 7. $20/nonmembers, $15/members.

Kids can enjoy a summer camp preview while parents relax during TDG's Roses and Chocolate party. Drop off as early as 5 pm, and pick up as late as 8 pm. Kids enjoy crafts, a Butterfly House Safari and a chance to see eye-to-eye with our insect friends. Pizza dinner will be provided. Educator will contact you prior to see if your child needs anything special or has dietary restrictions. Ages 3 and up, toilet trained, please. $15/child, $10/member child.

Master naturalist Jim Varnum leads this annual walk at the 160-acre prairie preserve.
Volunteers needed to help clear invasive plants at 160-acre prairie preserve. Two shifts: 9 am to noon and 1-3 pm. Bring gloves, work clothes, sturdy shoes, hat, eye-protection, sunscreen, picnic lunch. RSVP Don Young at donyoungglass@earthlink.net or 817-731-2787.
Visitors can hike at the Meadow Preserve for free at the monthly open house. Enter at Wooded Gate on east side of Alma, south of Bethany.
