Camouflage in Nature - Ft Worth

Fall can be a tough time for wildlife, especially when the leaves drop and there is not much coverage for hiding. Come and learn about how animals adapt and camouflage themselves in order to survive. $5 (with paid admission)/ MEMBERS FREE.

Admission:

$5 for adults;
$3 for seniors;

ages 3-12;
free for children under 3 and for Friends of the Fort Worth
Nature Center and Refuge members.

 

Trails and Treats - Ft Worth

Bring out your children or grandchildren for a fun evening of learning about nocturnal animals, hiking and treats. We will have indoor programs at 5:30, 6 and 6:30 p.m. and lead you on the trails for treats after each program. Other activities will be available while you wait for the next indoor program. Bats - Ft Worth

Bats are often misunderstood. Join us as we clear up some of the myths about bats and learn about their eating habits, adaptations and more. FREE (with paid admission).

Skulls - Ft Worth

Sometimes it is difficult to find some of our wildlife as you are hiking such as beaver, bobcat and more. However, evidence of them can be found in the form of tracks, scat and even skulls. Stop by the Visitor’s Center and take a look at some skulls of local fauna. See if you can identify the skulls. FREE (with paid admission).

Nature Creeping - Ft Worth

We miss so many forms of wildlife as we hike. Join us as we pay attention to details and look for the smaller forms of wildlife that are found along the trail. Keep your eyes peeled, $5 (with paid admission)/MEMBERS FREE.

Seed Balls - Ft Worth

Come join us as we scatter seed balls that were made at the Lake Worth Monster Bash. Learn about what types of seeds we used and why we use seed balls to distribute seeds. FREE (with paid admission).

Trinity Bird Count - DFW

Join us for a The Trinity Bird Count is an exciting new effort to count every bird species in and along our Trinity River in Dallas! Birds are among the most beautiful and intriguing visitors and residents of the forests, grasslands, river banks and neighborhoods along the Trinity River.

This year, the Trinity Commons Foundation begins an exciting new project to learn about the Trinity's birds - the Trinity Bird Count. With 636 of the 957 bird species in North America, Texas is for the birds! Come enjoy the Trinity and help investigate the birds that live along the Trinity or that visit here during their migration.

Owl-O-Ween - Free 3rd Thursday at TRAC - Dallas

Come meet our owl friends and learn more about this amazing nocturnal creature. 

Join us for a FREE “Third Thursday” this October. Our theme this month is everything owls.  Owl art, live owls, owl prowl, owl pellets, even "Three Hoots" Owl wine! We’ll be open from 9a.m. – 9p.m.  Evening activies include something for everyone, kids and adults alike.

Shred & Recycle Day - Ft Worth

Celebrate Texas Recycles Day by shredding your personal documents at GreenStar. Fort Worth residents can take up to five boxes (about 250 pounds) to be shredded. Business waste in not allowed. Event sponsored by City of Fort Worth and Greenstar Security Destruction.

Prescriptions, Over-the-Counter medications, Veterinary Medications, Vitamin/Minerals, Medication Samples


Not Accepted:
Oxygen Tanks, Needles and other sharps, Inhalers, Thermometers, Nebulizers, IV Bags

Participants are asked to:

Keep Medication in Original Containers * Mark through Personal Information * Stay in Vehical at All Times * Drive through the drop-off area and give medications to staff.
