Learn who is keeping an eye on the health of our rivers and streams, what water quality indicators they study and what threats our water faces. Recommended for ages 12 and up. Meet at Big River Parking Lot. Bring a camping/ fold out chair if you have one. Free (with paid admission).
Join a bilingual naturalist on a hike. Whether Spanish is your first or second language, this hike provides a great opportunity to learn or practice the Spanish language and see nature. $5 (with paid admission).
Guided .5-mile stroll along the trails. Bring water and binoculars for bird watching. Free.
Workshop series is geared to environmental educators. In this last session, help students learn about their relationship with energy and investigate the environmental issues related to energy's role in society. Receive an Energy & Society Activity Guide, Energy and Me Music CD and Dance Video end energy posters. Great for 5th grade energy unit. Receive 3hours of SBEC credit. $35. This program is a collaborative effort between the Texas AgriLife Extension, Texas Parks and Wildlife, Fort Worth Nature Center & Refuge.
The mission of this program is to develop and certify a group of well-informed adult volunteers to provide education, outreach, and service dedicated toward the beneficial management of natural resources and natural areas within our ecosystem community.
A maximum of 25 applicants will be selected to attend the program. Upon selection, training classes will be held from 6:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. each Tuesday, starting Aug. 27, at the Fort Worth Nature Center & Refuge.
Cost: $125. Application deadline July 29, 2013.
