Nature Conservancy's Spring Party - Dallas

We invite you to join The Nature Conservancy for our annual Dallas Spring Party at the beautiful Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Gardens on Friday, April 15, 2011, at 6:30 pm.

With your help, we can conserve and restore essential marine habitat in the Gulf of Mexico and around the world.

The Nature Conservancy is at the forefront of efforts to protect Earth’s oceans. This year, while we continue to conserve land and water across Texas, our work along the Gulf of Mexico has a new underlying urgency. The immediate need to invest in new and ongoing protection and restoration efforts in the gulf is clear.

Join us to learn more about the intersection of science-based strategies and our magnificent oceans, and find out how you can be a part of protecting the Gulf of Mexico—The Blue Heart of Texas.

Basketweaving Basics - Dallas

Basket weaving is one of the oldest known utilitarian arts. Using natural materials, Anna Barry, owner of The White Rock Weaving Center, will introduce you to the art of basketweaving. This project, which is perfect for beginners, will allow you to create a small basket that can be used for dinner rolls, napkins or other small treasures. No prior experience in necessary and all basketry materials will be included. Join us to explore this historic and easy to learn art. $45

Tandy Hills Prairie Fest & Wildflower Walks - Ft Worth

Join Nature Center Director Suzanne Tuttle and volunteers from the Cross Timbers Master Naturalist chapter for a walk through the wildflowers during the annual Prairie Fest at beautiful Tandy Hills Natural Area in east Fort Worth. Each year the park, which is a satellite area managed by the Nature Center staff, is home to one of the most spectacular wildflower displays in our area. Entrance to the festival is at the corner of Tandy and View Streets; wildflower walks begin on demand from the Nature Center’s booth. FREE.

Full Moon Paddle - Ft Worth

Come and join us for a different type of Canoe Tour in the evening hours. This program will present new opportunities like
hearing beavers slap the water with their tails and seeing other wildlife, like deer and raccoons. Canoes, paddles and lifejackets are provided. Children must be 5 years or older. Parents must sign a liability waiver for minor children. Some previous experience recommended. Registration ends Tuesday preceding or when filled. Maximum - 12 participants. Meet at Big River Parking Lot.Pre-registration required. $20 (includes admission)/MEMBERS $15.

Organic Farming & Fruit Tree Class - Chico, TX

Organic Farming and Fruit Tree Class at Red Bud Ranch, 353 P. R. 1767 Chico, TX. Jay from organic Rabbit Hill Farm and organic Tropical John are teaching veggie farming & fruit trees in Wise County. Register & coffee at 8 am, classes start at 9 am.
