Area residents who enjoy eating locally grown and produced food should mark May 5th on their calendars for the season opening of the Keller Farmers Market at 8:00 am.
Opening day will feature jazz music by The Matt Larsen Quartet, and a seed and plant exchange for gardeners looking to trade extra seeds and plants with other gardeners. The exchange is a fun and practical way to meet other gardeners, discuss gardening issues and to exchange a plant for another plant to diversify their own harvest. Tables will be set-up at the entrance to the market, staffed with volunteers who can assist.
“We are expecting local favorites as well as surprise plants at the swap. We hope this is the first of many seed and plant exchanges at the market,” says Keller Farmers Market Executive Director Bridget Rodewald.

This forum will feature guest speakers Deborah Rogers (former Merrill Lynch Financial Analyst), Gary Hogan (co-founder of North Central Texas Communities Alliance), Louis McBee (co-founder of North Central Texas Communities Alliance) and Terry Welch (a member of the Dallas Gas Drilling Task Force) presenting information about urban gas drilling and pending actions of the Dallas City Council that is relevant to all citizens and property owners.
The program will include a one hour presentation by our guest speakers followed by a question and answer period to allow public participation in the discussion. Topics will include the financial costs and revenues of urban gas drilling, private property rights and impacts, infrastructure damage, maintenance and remediation costs, human health aspects of urban gas drilling and related subjects that impact all citizens of Dallas and our surrounding neighbors. Ride the Southside to celebrate National Bike Month!
Bring the family to join the Southside Bike Ride at 9 a.m. on Saturday, May 19. Enjoy the family friendly, leisurely ride through Fort Worth’s south side neighborhoods on the 8.8 mile route, or ride a shorter 5 mile course – both kicking off at One Safe Place, 777 W. Rosedale St. Activities include vendors and sponsor booths offering health and safety information, a kid’s bike rodeo and members of the Fort Worth police, bike patrol and fire departments will be on hand with their safety equipment. Proceeds from sponsorships and donations benefit the Fort Worth Police Bike Patrol Support Group.
