Texas Bluebird Society: Bluebird Symposium - Midlothian (Aug. 2-3)
The symposium promotes the conservation of bluebirds and teaches the public how to attract and provide quality habitat for bluebirds across Texas.
Topics include Bluebird Basics, House Sparrow Control, Birding in Texas and Planting for Bluebirds Success. Information on Cornell Lab of Ornithology NestWatch and a Nestbox Building Workshop will also be offered.
Native Prairies Association of Texas: A Texas Prairie Celebration - Cooke County
NPAT hosts a field trip and dinner at the Dixon Water Foundation’s Leo Ranch Betty and Clint Josey Pavilion.
The afternoon field trip starts at 1 p.m., led by botanical experts Bill Carr and Lisa Bellows.
A catered dinner at the Clint Josey Pavilion will follow from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. We will share updates on the year at NPAT and offer a chance to mingle with other prairie enthusiasts. $45.

Trinity Park Conservancy: Trinity Park Volunteer Day & Seedball Workshop - Dallas
Volunteers needed for a family-friendly volunteer trash cleanup and seedball making day in Harold Simmons Park!. Meet at the Trinity Overlook Park at Commerce Street and Beckley Avenue.
The Great Seed Bomb will be leading the Seedball Workshop where you can get your hands dirty and make native grass and wildflower seedballs that will be dispersed in different areas along the Trinity River Corridor. Sowing seedballs helps to reinforce habitats vital to the migration of monarchs, the well-being of bees, and adds beauty to our green spaces.

Native Plant Society of Texas, North Central Chapter: Flora of the Chihuahuan Desert - Fort Worth
Michael Eason, freelance botanist, author and photographer, will speak on plants in the Chihuahuan Desert region of West Texas, from Val Verde County to El Paso, will focus on species with interesting seed dispersal mechanisms and pollination biology. He’ll also address the topography, geology and climatic influences that make this region so diverse and online and print resources for plant identification.
Native Prairies Association of Texas, Fort Worth Chapter: Prairie Plant Rescue - Fort Worth
Help volunteers from the Native Prairies Association of Texas' Fort Worth chapter salvage native wildflowers and grasses on a lot, behind the Hulen Home Depot, being developed for a new Tanglewood elementary school. Take some back your own gardens!
Times for the rescue are:

Denton Clear Creek Natural Heritage Center: Monarch Waystations - Denton
Monarch Waystations for North Texas covers the monarch butterfly lifecycle and migration, clarifies some common misconceptions about monarchs, explains historic and current threats to monarch populations and why Texas is a pivotal location for monarchs’ future success. The program also covers real steps North Texas residents can take to help bolster the monarch population, and what to plant to feed monarchs. Free packets of local native milkweed seeds, and plant lists for North Texas will be available. This class will be taught by Carol Clark.
