Moving Planet "Flash Mob" - Dallas

It is obvious that the City of Dallas and its surrounding suburbs lack an efficient public transit system; transportation in Dallas is ineffective and impractical without the use of an automobile. Given the high number of commuters that travel in and out of the city every day, it is clear that Dallas must incorporate a better public transit system in order to become a more sustainable city.

On September 24, we, the residents of Dallas, will gather at the DART Rail Forest Lane station and sign a petition to government demanding better and more sustainable public transportation. We will ride the DART train towards the Shops at Park Lane plaza (in a "flash mob") and gather in the famous "350 formation" (http://earth.350.org/big-pictures/) so a photograph can be taken from a top story floor. From there, we will  ride on the DART rail to Texas Discovery Gardens (Fair Park), where the Dallas Green Festival will be held. At the park, we will host a speaker to communicate the importance of sustainable transportation.

Discovery Gardens Green Exhibit during the Fair - Dallas

Visitors can tour native gardens outside, including the stunning Grande Allee fountain. Inside, a tropical butterfly house includes hundreds of free flying butterflies with daily butterfly releases at 10:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. The annual monarch tagging demonstrations will take place at 11:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. New in 2011, the Texas Discovery Gardens Green Exhibit celebrates fun, easy ways to live more sustainably. Multiple vendors will be on hand with natural treats, eco-friendly transportation, and more. Sculptures and paintings throughout Texas Discovery Gardens connect art with nature, featuring the work of Silvia Thornton, Anne Neal, Dan and Lori Dudley, student sculptors at El Centro College, and more. We are also proud to unveil a public art display with the City of Dallas from Vancouver artists Michael Vandermeer and Cheryl Hamilton, featuring stunning glass and steel nature-themed pieces that hang from our two story lobby ceiling.
