An introduction to the vines of this area by MN Dana Wilson. Participants will learn the basics of plant ID (including the use of a dichotomous key) by focusing on identification of common vines. Time will be spent inside and outside.
Dress appropriately, bring water, sun and insect protection.

His books Last Child in the Woods: Saving Our Children from Nature-Deficit Disorder and The Nature Principle: Reconnecting with Life in a Virtual Age inform the presentation, along with tips for discovering local natural world adventures on the Perot Museum sponsored NT CiNN website: NatureRocksNorthTexas.org.

Green Source DFW, a project of the Memnosyne Institute, is hosting its first-ever fundraising 5K run. The inaugural Run for the Environment will be held Oct. 11, 2014 at Cedar Hill State Park.
The event will be timed on a measured course.
Proceeds will support Green Source DFW and its mission to advance the environmental movement in North Texas.

Join our trail guides as they lead a moonlit stroll through the woods and across the prairie. We may hear some bumps in the night, but have no fear, t’s probably just an armadillo. When identifying birds, there are many things to consider such as markings, colors, behaviors and song. We will go over some bird identification terminology and help get beginning birders started identifying birds better. Program is approved for Texas Master Naturalists Advanced Training Hours.
