More than 30 environmental enthusiasts turned out for the Green Source DFW Summer Mixer on July 18 at The People’s Last Stand in Dallas.

The group represented a wide range of green interests and lots of inspiring stories. For example, one attendee is preparing to start work for Al Gore's Climate Reality Leadership Corps while another is training for the 300-mile Climate Ride from New York to DC in September. Donate to Swetha's ride.

Here's a gallery from the green bash:

Elizabeth Dry, right, is gearing up to launch the Promise of Peace Garden Kickstarter campaign Sunday to support POP's new community garden at White Rock United Methodist Church.

Above, Kim Hall, left, explains to green realtor Cyndie Gawain how she's planning to "tweak the world" with a new people and environmentally friendly website.

Charlie and Katrina Tipton, who works at Urban Acres, and Stephanie Pedro, chatted about how much they love their local CSAs.

Eco-friendly inventor Dave Pennington, left, showed up with a sample of his building material that makes use of discarded styrofoam.

Green Source DFW’s Brandolon Barnett, above right, welcomed guests while GSDFW editor Phillip Shinoda kept an eye out for potential volunteers.

Karl Thibodeaux, right, of First Jefferson Unitarian Universalist Church in Fort Worth, reported that FJUUC's Green Sanctuary committee is about to break ground on a community garden following a smashing success with a compost pile.

Meanwhile, Judy Schaffer, green interior designer, and Suzanne Westerheim, organic gardener, plotted the greening of the Metroplex inside and out.

So look out, world! DFW greenies are not idle. Be sure to attend our next gathering in October. Same time, same green location.
