On Tuesday, each member of the Dallas City Council, along with Mayor Tom  Leppert and City Manager Mary K. Suhm received a gift: their very own copy of the Academy Award nominated film, Gasland

This DVD was provided by Dallas Area Residents for Responsible Drilling (DARRD) and Downwinders At Risk who are urging the City to take a leadership role and answer residents' questions about shale gas drilling.

A letter that accompanied the DVD encouraged the City to 'ask the tough questions, demand honest and verifiable answers and not rely on the industry as a sole advisor.'

The film follows Josh Fox as he travels cross-country to source out water pollution happening as a result of hydraulic fracturing. The North Texas area is featured prominently in this film, showing how irresponsible drilling practices are threatening air and water quality in our area.

As DAARD Organizer Ray Crawford said, 'Now they can't say, they don't know.'
