Marley Wind Works in Ellis County creates 'wind machines' from repurposed material

Ellis County engineer Mark MacLean founded Marley Wind Works, creating small backyard wind machines from repurposed materials like old bicycles and washers. While not generating electricity, these machines perform tasks like aerating ponds. Inspired by his father's frugality, MacLean designs functional and ornamental machines, including a potential wind-powered phone charger.

Another great Oak Cliff Earth Day was held Sunday at Lake Cliff Park in Dallas. The cloudy weather was perfect  – and cool, as were the folks we saw at the festival. Many brought along their canine companions, with some decked-out for the annual Mutt Strutt.

North Texas kicks off month of Earth Day celebrations

Earth Day is officially celebrated April 22, but North Texas cities stretch out the holiday for four weeks starting in late March.

That's good news for greenies because that means fewer events overlap and you can attend an ecofest every week for a month. Check out the line up below – all events are free.
