Native Prairies Association of Texas Fort Worth Chapter - Partners for Wildlife Program to Stem Monarch Loss in Texas - Fort Worth

Don Wilhelm, Partners for Wildlife program coordinator, with the local U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service office, will present on their work with monarchs in Texas. He will discuss how the USFWS is working with their partners and with landowners in numerous ways to help reverse the pressing threats to monarchs due to habitat loss, loss of native milkweed plants due to development and the need for nectar sources during the monarch migrations.

The monarch butterfly is one of the most beautiful & recognizable insects on earth, but it needs our help. The native prairie habitats with milkweed for caterpillar development and native wildflowers for nectar sources to support pollinators are a key component in the survival of our monarchs and other pollinator species. This will be a great opportunity to find out how we can use our prairies - and also our own residential areas - to help give monarchs & other pollinators the resources they need to survive.
