Making Bird Study Skins - Audubon Texas Winter Enrichment (AT)
Making Bird Study Skins with Dr. Marcy Brown Marsden, Associate Professor and Chairman of the Department of Biology, University of Dallas. The use of bird skins to document species has played an important role in systematic ornithology. See the remarkable collection of bird study skins started by famed area ornithologist Warren M. Pulich and learn the step-by-step process of making bird study skins by retaining the key bones of the wings, legs and skull along with the skin and feathers in this hands-on workshop. NOTE - All bird skins from native North American bird species require federal and state permits to possess. Learn the process and help create skins for use in permitted area collections. Bring a dissection kit if you have one, a few will be available for loan. Attendance for this presentation is LIMITED.
