City of Fort Worth: Ask the Experts Gardening Seminar - Fort Worth

If you are in the midst of planning your fall or even spring garden, then you should not miss the upcoming YardSmart Seminar. The semi-annual seminar is free and open to the general public. 

During the seminar attendees will hear from well-known local experts on best practices on Companion Gardening, Butterfly Gardening and Earth-Kind Landscaping and Gardening.

Trinity Environmental Academy: Signs of Fall - Dallas

Monthly environmental activities hosted by Trinity Environmental Academy, led by certified teachers and founders of Trinity Environmental Academy. Fun, hands-on activities for ages 4-10. Snacks and water provided.

Greater Fort Worth Sierra Club: Camping 101 Training - Fort Worth

Has it been years since you camped with the scouts or just need to update your knowledge of camping equipment, wilderness cooking and clothing yourself for hiking? Virgin campers are welcome and will find this information basic and easy to understand. Join experienced and patient Sierra Club outings leaders who will conduct the class, demonstrate equipment, answer questions and advise on trip planning. Topics to be covered include selection and care of tents, back packs and day packs, stoves, hiking boots, clothing, sleeping bags, sleeping pads as well as meal and trip planning. $15 to be prepaid. Greater Fort Worth Sierra Club: Downwinders at Risk - Fort Worth

Jim Shermbeck, community organizer and director of Downwinders At Risk, will update our group about the current state of affairs on air quality in DFW and the proposals from environmental and concerned citizens to TCEQ on how to fix our nonattainment with the Clean Air Act. Jim and Downwinders at Risk have led the fight against the dirty air created by cement kilns in Midlothian for more than two decades. The speaker is followed by refreshments and announcements. 

City of Plano: Smart Yards for North Texas - Plano

Choosing Texas-friendly plants that are well-adapted to our area and weather conditions makes a big difference in the success of your landscape. Learn about soil preparation, which plants – groundcovers, shrubs, vines and perennials  work best in our clay soil and our North Central Texas climate. After the talk, join us for a stroll through our teaching garden to see the drought-tolerant, native plants up-close. Free.
