Water Wise Landscape Tour - Dallas and surrounding cities

City of Dallas Water Utilities, city of Dallas Stormwater Management, city of Dallas Park & Recreation, Texas AgriLife Extension, the Dallas County Master Gardeners and the Town of Addison are teaming up with surrounding cities to demonstrate the beauty of Water-Wise and EarthKind gardening with the 18th annual Water-Wise Landscape Tour.

North Texas Sustainable Showcase - Dallas

AIA Dallas Committee on the Environment (COTE), USGBC North Texas, and the CSI Dallas Chapter are partnering to showcase the latest green building products and technologies for commercial and residential use. 

NTX Sustainable Showcase is for architects, engineers, interior designers, developers, contractors, owners, facilities managers and others interested in the sustainable building industry. This event will provide panel presentations with experts in the industry who will review why to choose healthy materials, how they affect designs, and how to implement in projects.

Cost: $100 ($90/AIA, CSI and USGBC members) and $45/students.

BRIT: Field Studies Saturday - Fort Worth

Learn what science you already do in your daily life and the field skills you didn’t even know you had. Workshop features family-friendly, hands-on activities and presentations. Free. See schedule below.


Schedule:

10 a.m.-2 p.m. Discovery Stations on the Prairie

Learn how to collect plants and insects, or stop by our general observation station to learn more about BRIT’s prairie. Free jars will be given away so that you can take home your collection. Limited supply.

1:30 p.m. “Leading & Learning in Nature: BRIT Field School Changing Lives”

This presentation by Education Specialist Dr. April Sawey covers some of the educational research being conducted on the BRIT field School.

Dallas Sierra Club - Texas Wildlife Conservation & Storm Water - Dallas

John Davis of the Texas Parks and Wildlife Dept will talk about what the future holds for Texas' wildlife. In addition, the Dallas Stormwater Management Outreach Department will describe what storm water is, how it is regulated, the primary sources of pollution of storm water in Dallas, what the city of Dallas does to protect it, and what private citizens can do. Contact: Kirk Miller, 972-699-1687 or KirkMiller@DallasSierraClub.org.
