Jason Singhurst is the speaker. Jason Singhurst has been a botanist/plant ecologist at Texas Parks & Wildlife Department for over 20 years. He coordinated a 95-county tallgrass prairie mapping project in Texas with a partnership with NPAT. As a result of this mapping project partnership, Jason joined the NPAT board and has assisted with the Property, Acquisition and Management Team. He has described five plant species new to science that are endemic (restricted) to Texas and co-authored the book Rare Plants of Texas.

Perfect weather is making for an excellent wildflower show this year. Imagine what it was like to be an early settler who came upon the vast prairie when it was covered with spring blooms. This hike is on a non-public portion of LLELA and is a chance to get a glimpse of efforts to preserve this highly endangered ecosystem. Farmers Suicide: A Call to India's Conscience and how you can help. A talk by Kiran Vissa. He will speak about why the farmers are in deep stress, the various initiatives to address the crisis and more importantly how you can help the situation. 

For those who are up for a tour that's a little more rugged, the Native Prairies Assocation of Texas is hosting its second annual Texas prairies bus tour. Tour route includes Temple, Taylor area, Marlin and then near Crawford. Tour 7 private gardens in historic Berkeley Place. There was no sneak peek photo available at time of press so they mean it when they say "hidden." However, this tour is guaranteed to feature a variety of charming backyards of Fort Worth's quaint vintage homes.

Nine creative gardens in Forest Hills, Little Forest Hills and Casa Linda Estates will be showcased this year, featuring terraced landscaping, peaceful retreats, large organic gardens, water features, lavish outdoor entertaining venues, fun and funky art, and incredible landscaping, trees, and flowers. In addition to dedicated gardeners, these neighborhoods are home to many talented artists who will have their unique creations for sale in the gardens.
