For those fans of Green Grocer in Dallas who were saddened to hear that the green market was closing this month – rejoice. The store, which specializes in stocking nearly exclusively organic foods, local produce when possible and no GMOs, is back.

On Monday, Green Grocer announced it was reopening as a mini version of itself in the same location at 3614 Greenville Ave. with limited hours and a smaller staff. GG Micro Market launches Wednesday, Jan. 27.

“Most of you are aware that we were unable to create a profitable/sustainable business in our store's first iteration,” said co-owner Cassie Green’s Facebook post. “Our rent and personnel expenses to run a 7-day-a-week, 13-hour-a-day operation with multiple departments were too much.

“However, we still have a lease on the space for more than a year. After thinking and thinking about how to cover that lease payment (and hearing the outcry from our customer friends about us closing), we decided to create a micro version of GG!”

Hours will be Wednesday through Friday, 1 p.m. to 7 p.m, Saturday 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Sunday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The juice and coffee bar will be open but the deli will not be initially. Bone broth pick ups will still be offered.

“Please don't ask us what we will carry,” Green went on to say. “We won't have time to reply to specific questions. If you are curious, please just stop by and see us this Wednesday!"

Welcome back, Green Grocer!
