'Rooftop' solar to protect cars at McKinney dealership

El Dorado Chevrolet/Mazda of McKinney is installing solar canopies on its 28-acre lot to protect vehicles from weather and generate energy. The project will reduce utility costs, produce surplus energy to sell, and provide tax benefits, resulting in an estimated $4 million savings over 30 years.

Biggest solar tour in Texas held in DFW

The 9th Annual DFW Solar Tour, the largest renewable energy tour in Texas, offers a free, self-guided event across 50 locations in North Texas on Oct. 13. Organized by the North Texas Renewable Energy Group, it features solar-powered sites, educational centers, and solar experts available for queries.

Grand Opening for the 70,000 square-foot, three-story innovation is June 16, followed by days of get-acquainted community events called Discover Your Story.
