The Dallas Green Alliance, a grassroots political action committee formed to elect green City Council candidates, hosted a fundraiser on May 28 at the Stoneleigh P in Dallas.

In this last week of the current Texas Legislature, it’s a complicated, tricksy end game to see if bills harmful to Texas air, water, clean energy and consumer choice will become law.

The 84th Texas Legislature resembles a giant, two-sided game of Whac-a-Mole. That old State Fair midway game where toy moles pop up madly out of holes all over the board, and you whack them down to win the prize.

 Dr. Bruce McCarl, Agricultural Economist at Texas A & M University, is a member of the IPCC, the International Panel on Climate Change, established in 1988 by the U.N. and World Metereological Organization. The IPCC works to  “review and assess the most recent scientific, technical and socio-economic information produced worldwide relevant to the understanding of climate change.”

The 84th Texas Legislature began hearings March 23 on the first of a flood of bills, of which 60 percent related to the environment were listed as adverse to public health, safety and natural resources by environmental citizens action group Alliance for a Clean Texas.
