Stand sometime in the midst of a typical Texas pasture. Everything is contained, with neat fencerows and grass kept short by the relentless grazing of cows. It’s silent and still, with no movement or sound of wildlife. Peaceful and pastoral? Or does it lack life force, like a painting?

While there are a number of eco-friendly mosquito repellents on the market, Marla McDonald of Dallas and Stephen Sawyer of Austin got the itch to sell their own version called Bug-Bouncer last year. Now they're scrambling to keep the product in stock with orders swarming in from as far away as Hawaii.
North Texas astronomy groups and planetariums offers a plethora of opportunities to learn about the night sky at both outside gatherings and indoor venues.
