Cedar Hill State Park: Three First Day Hikes - Cedar Hill

Take a guided hike on one of the amazing trails in the Blackland prairie ecosystem. Choose from three different hikes that celebrate the ecological diversity of North Texas and Cedar Hill State Park.

11 a.m.-Noon - Ranger-led stroll through the 0.6-mile Penn Farm Trail. Learn the nature and history of this 19th century homestead. Meet at the Penn Farm Trailhead.

1 p.m.-2:30 p.m. - During this ranger-led hike, walk through a Blackland prairie restoration project on our 2.5-mile Talala Trail. Meet at the Penn Farm Parking Lot.

5 p.m.-6 p.m. - Join a ranger for a relaxing 1-mile walk along the Shoreline Trail and take in the first sunset of 2026 over Joe Pool Lake. Meet at the Shoreline Trailhead near the north boat ramp.
